Sunrise Picnic Elopement at Shawnee Treehouse Cabin

There’s something magical about starting your wedding day before the rest of the world wakes up. This intimate sunrise elopement at the Shawnee Treehouse Cabin near Garden of the Gods began at 6 a.m. with a heartfelt vow and ring exchange on the suspension bridge. With the groom’s daughter witnessing the moment and their sweet pup by their side, the ceremony was filled with love, connection, and the simple beauty of being together.

After saying “I do,” we hiked up to the bluffs overlooking the Shawnee National Forest, where the couple shared a cozy breakfast picnic while watching the sunrise paint the landscape in golden light. (Fun fact the bride made her wedding dress & the quilt was made by the grooms grandmother!) One of the biggest benefits of a sunrise elopement at Garden of the Gods is having the park nearly to yourselves, creating a peaceful and private experience surrounded by nature. The soft morning light also provides some of the most beautiful conditions for photographs, making sunrise one of the best times to elope in Southern Illinois.
